Avast Free Review Windows

Avast’s free review windows

Avast’s new interface is well laid-out, with clear demarcation between its various components and simple blue icons (with orange accents derived from the company logo) to highlight the suite’s capabilities. On the homepage, you can perform an examination, activate the VPN and gain access to shortcuts to a variety of less-than-useful tools for optimizing your system. However, the fact that most of Avast’s other features are buried away within the “Explore” tab is a little frustrating.

Installation is simple, and you’re not required to choose the free version. However, a thorough scan will reveal “advanced problems” that require premium security in order to resolve. This feels a little sneaky, especially when the Resolve button takes you to a page asking you to sign for Avast’s Premium security plan. Avast also sells user data, which was uncovered in a 2020 article from Which? magazine.
